What I saw from TAA show in brooklyn

Here's what I learned form TAA art show: Nothing is permanent. We got only four days to show our arts in this space and then the show must go on. A knife or a pair of scissors still needs to be sharpen then a phone booth which used to be our key communication but now it is just a place for people to dump their trash.

Area

Rediscovery

Temple is at the center of Buddhist culture. Some people go to temple regularly, others go only when facing problems or confusion.  Some go simply to get away from chaos.  It is a place in which many try to rebuild themselves through meditation.

Meditation, for me, is about focusing on something. Operating a Polaroid camera puts me in a similar realm of tranquillity, as if in meditation.
There are 3 guiding numbers on a Polaroid camera. What to do first, next and last:
no.1 Focus, no.2 Shoot and no.3 Reset.
What I love the most about the process is that right after I pull the picture out I have to wait 30 seconds for the print to develop. It’s 30 seconds of focusing and rethinking about the whole process that I’ve just done.
I chose Polaroid black and white film as my medium; because of its simplicity.
Instead of the instant and reproducible results of digital photography, each print from a Polaroid camera is one of a kind.
We are living in a fast paced world and often lose our focus on the things around us.
I chose windows and hallway as my subjects because we often look though a window or walk through a door without focusing on them.
I focused on one area, shot it from different angles and distances, and rediscovered them through recomposing them together.

Shooting Polaroid is my meditation method; what is yours?

Long Beach

It's summer and I need to hit the sun. I can't think of anything better than Long beach, Long Island. It is not a good week for me to go to the beach because I went there two times this week and i couldn't see the sun. First time, I went there in a rush but it turned out it was a bad weather in Long beach but very nice in Manhattan. It's ok, Then I got invited to go on a trip with my friends because he was gonna renting a car but the traffic was so bad. We left around 3pm but we got there around 6pm. Anyway, we got to spend sometimes on the beach and we had a nice dinner at Otto restaurant in Nautical road.

Live, Work, Create.

: Polaroid 340 with Fuji 100c

It's the fact that we must live, work and create but some people just want to LIVE and don't want to WORK and still against others to CREATE. Please stop and start helping to make this world a better home.

It's the fact but many people just wanna Live and don't wanna Work and against others to Create. Please stop and help the world.

Waiting

New Year gift for Ann was a hard one. I really wanted to get something that she liked and useful for her. I came up with something like bags, shoes, clothes and fashion stuffs but I didn't think it's gonna be good for her, especially, for new year. Finally, I got an idea that it should not a product but service. Therefore, I got her a spa session. We got an appointment on Monday and I sent her in to her room at the spa on the appointment day. It was gonna be her great hours for her but I needed to killed my time. Luckily, right on the corner from the spa, there's a nice coffee/ bar for me to wait for her. They sell coffee in the morning and they are a bar at night. The decor is great and they have a nice selection of music. I got a pressed coffee and I did some NYC direction drawing then I got a text from her that she was dome. Time flied so fast. It was about time for dinner. We went to a no name chinese restaurant because she was craving for duck. Right when I got in there was an old lady sitting there with a cup of tea on the table. She was waiting...............

My first day of 2011, I spent my morning at the temple and I chose to do something fun at night by going to Union Hall in park slope with my friend, Mark. One night during Falls, he took me there when we checked out the neighborhood and I just fell in love with the place. They have a library section in the front, two indoor bocce courts, garden seating and concert venue downstairs. It was amazing especially 2 firesides in the winters. That night, It was very roomy and not to crowded. I had the same image for tonight because I was thinking about spending my time at the library section with my Wa-Bi-Sa-Bi book and doing some drawing. However, It was packed when I got there. I forgot that it was New Year on Saturday night and on the top of that they were having a bocce tournament going on and Karaoke in the basement. I was fine to go with the flow. I had learnt the bocce rules that night while I was waiting for Mark to catch up with me. We spent a good hour talking at the firesides and decided to check the Kareoke out. It's not a regular open mic Kareoke but it's hosted by Kareoke Killed Cats. The host/dj was great. He is an entertainer and the crowds were amazing. People were having a good time and grooving with the melodies. It was a great New Year day for me: started clean and ended with fun.
